Anguilla boasts more than 20 wetlands/salt ponds, 11 of which have been designated Important Bird Areas (IBA's) by Birdlife International. 
During peak migratory periods, a wide variety of species make their way to and from their breeding grounds along the Atlantic Flyway.
The island is home to 5 of the Lesser Antilles Restricted Range Species including the Lesser Antillean Bullfinch, Pearly-eyed Thrasher, Caribbean Elaenia, Green-throated Carib Hummingbird & the Antillean Crested Hummingbird
